Who We Are

First Generation Investors (FGI) is a nonprofit organization that teaches high school students the power of long-term investing, and brings classroom lessons to life by providing students with real money to invest.

We break the inertia barrier by helping students take the very first step toward building lifelong investing habits. Our program influences behavior and creates lasting conversations around money and opportunity.

Testimonials

My favorite part about FGI was really just going and learning the key aspects of investing, bonds, and stocks. I also really liked learning from people that were kind of in my position… people that graduated from FGI, went to college and are now teaching us high schoolers about it.

"I didn't have a set way of thinking about finance and investing and I didn't think that anything that I would be taught would apply to me now, and taking this course really changed that."

"You don’t actually have to have a job in investing before doing it. I thought for investing you had to go to college and become a banker before doing so. When I learned you could invest at the age of 18 it was shocking."

"I definitely will save more and put that towards investing because my plans are geared towards starting a family and making a living... I want to be able to live comfortably and also take care of the ones around me."

"It was thanks to FGI that I realized that it wasn’t all that difficult and anybody, literally anybody could invest their money for themselves, their family, and towards the future."
